Calculation of the friction coefficient of Cu matrix composite reinforced by carbon nanotubes AITranslate
Abstract AITranslate
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been considered as an ideal reinforced material to improve the mechanical performance of many materials. Because of the exceptional small diameters as well as the high Young’s modulus, tensile strength, and high chemical stability, CNTs are an attractive reinforcement material for lightweight and high-strength metallic matrix composites. In this paper, we report the result on the fabrication and calculation of the friction coefficient of Cu matrix composite material reinforced by carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Cu/CNTs composites material was fabricated by powder metallurgy method. Mechanical properties of the material such as friction coefficient were evaluated using the rule of mixtures. Based on the calculation results, we determined the coefficient of friction of the CNTs component in the Cu/CNTs composites.
