Tunable Nanostructure Assembled from Dual-Responsive Crystalline Block Copolypeptoids AITranslate
Abstract AITranslate
Self-assembly of amphiphilic block copolymers containing stimuli-responsive blocks has been receiving great attention due to their notable characteristics and performances. Herein, we reported a type of diblock copolypeptoid, poly(N-allylglycine)-b-poly(N-octylglycine) (PNAG-b-PNOG), functionalized by cysteamine hydrochloride (PNAG-g-NH2)-b-PNOG). Due to its amphiphilic nature, (PNAG-g-NH2)-b-PNOG can self-assemble into spherical and fiber-like micelles in aqueous solution at room temperature, which is determined by the pH of solution. In addition, the obtained copolymer also exhibits a pH-dependent reversible lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior with similar cloud points in both heating and cooling cycles. We show that both the thermoresponsive property of hydrophilic blocks and the crystalline property of hydrophobic blocks are critical factors to coordinately dominate the nanostructure of the assemblies.
